Lunotriquetral Injuries

چکیده
Lunotriquetral injury is an important consideration in the evaluation of ulnarsided wrist pain. An understanding of the anatomy, kinematics, and pathomechanics of this injury assists in elucidating the diagnosis through history and physical examination. The use of appropriate radiographic imaging may provide additional support for the diagnosis. Arthroscopy has emerged as not only the gold standard for diagnosis of this injury, but also as an effective means of treatment. Treatment decisions must be based on both the degree of severity and acuity of the injury. Although the majority of patients will do well with nonoperative management, the indications for surgery and the varied outcomes of surgical management are discussed. Treatment of isolated injuries of the lunotriquetral ligament. A comparison of arthrodesis, ligament reconstruction and ligament repair.
We studied 57 patients with isolated lunotriquetral injuries treated by arthrodesis, direct ligament repair, or ligament reconstruction. The outcomes were compared by using written questionnaires, the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) score, range of movement, strength, morbidity and rates of reoperation. Isolated lunotriquetral injury was confirmed by arthroscopy or arthrotomy....
متن کاملLunotriquetral instability in a climber - case report and review.
Wrist injuries and carpal instability may result from various sport-related acitivites. Lunotriquetral instability (LTI) is an infrequently recognized cause of wrist pain in athletes. The diagnosis of LTI through history and physical examination can be confirmed by Magnetic Resonance Arthrogram (MRA). This case report describes a case of clinically suspected LTI confirmed by MRA. Relevant liter...
متن کاملDiagnostic accuracy of clinical examination and magnetic resonance imaging for common articular wrist pathology.
The authors retrospectively compared the diagnostic accuracy of clinical examination and magnetic resonance imaging for intra-articular wrist pathology (triangular fibrocartilage complex, lunotriquetral and scapholunate injuries), using wrist arthroscopy as the gold standard. Sixty-six patients had clinical examination and arthroscopy; 38 of them also had magnetic resonance imaging. The diagnos...
متن کاملTriangular fibrocartilage complex lesions: a classification.
Based on anatomic and biomechanical studies and review of our clinical experience of the past 10 years, a classification of injuries to the triangular fibrocartilage complex is presented. This classification is based on the clinical examination, routine x-ray films, wrist arthrograms, wrist arthroscopy, and wrist arthrotomy. The classification recognizes both traumatic and degenerative lesions....
متن کاملChronic lunotriquetral dissociation: dorsal capsular reinforcement with a retinaculum flap.
The authors have used dorsal capsular reinforcement with a retinacular flap to treat 13 patients with chronic lunotriquetral instability. The patients, 8 female and 5 male with a mean age of 30 years, were reviewed by an independent observer after a mean follow-up of 3.2 years. Overall patient satisfaction was poor in five, moderate in five and excellent in three. Three patients underwent a sec...
